Snow Hill Manor, originally built in 1755 was sadly destroyed by fire in 1764. It was later rebuilt in 1798. This beautiful Georgian home is rumored to have hosted President George Washington and his wife Martha.

Snow Hill Manor is one of the many homes in the Laurel area. It was formerly owned by the distinguished Snowden family. The Snowden family were one of Maryland’s early colonial Quaker families. They were also iron suppliers.

The 1+1⁄2-story brick house showcases late-Georgian architecture. Snow Hill Manor has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. It sits on 10 acres of land.

The house is rectangular with a gambrel roof and interior end chimneys. It features shed dormers. The center entrance boasts a transom and a small gabled porch. Inside, you’ll find a central hall plan with elaborate interior and corner cupboards.

Samuel Snowden, part owner of extensive family ironworks, once called this place home. He inherited the ironworks from his father Richard Snowden. In 1940 the original south wing was removed and rebuilt. Today, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission owns and operates Snow Hill Manor.

Inside Snow Hill Manor you will find four rooms on each floor. One room is now a modern caterer’s kitchen. There are also dressing rooms for brides and grooms. The house features wood floors and period-style furnishings.

The public can rent this historic property for meetings and receptions. It is also possible to book it for weddings and other functions.

A 30′ x 60′ tented brick patio is available from April to October. The reception capacity inside is 60 guests. The tented patio and lawn capacity is 120.
