In 1961, the foundation stone of the Ryde Seventh-Day Adventist Church was laid. It’s a fascinating tale of how this church, located on Lane Cove Road and Dobson Crescent, found its home. Originally, this building wasn’t intended for the Seventh-Day Adventists. It was built for the Ryde Baptist Church. The foundation stone even mentions Reverend George Nesbitt and Alex Alexander, key figures in the Baptist church’s history. Years later, in the 1970s, a unique exchange took place. The Ryde Seventh-Day Adventist Church swapped properties with the Ryde Baptist Church, whose original property was just across the road on Dobson Crescent. Now, a new Baptist church and school stand on the former site of the Ryde Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Today, the Ryde Seventh-Day Adventist Church continues to serve its community, holding the belief that life is more than material possessions. They believe in the infinite value of every human life, shaped by a divine creator who desires us to live fully.
