Let’s dive into the story of Calvert High School. Before its current location in 1963 Calvert High School was on Maryland Route 2 and 4. The old building then became Calvert Middle School. In 1965 Calvert County Public Schools desegregated. Brooks High School the all-black high school merged with Calvert High.
Calvert High’s mascot is the Cavalier. Their sports teams compete in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference. Rivals include Northern High School Huntingtown High School and Patuxent High School. In 2000 the Cavaliers won the Maryland State Division 3A American football championship. Jerry Franks was the head coach. The Varsity Girls Soccer Team won the Maryland 2A State Championship in 2015. Dawn Lister and Damon Williams led the team. Calvert High and Patuxent High are the only 2A schools in the county.
Calvert High School excels in academics too. The Vex robotics team is one example. In 2014 team 1670d went to the world competition in Anaheim California.
