CIVIL DEPT GATE wasn’t a gate yet, just an entrance to the newly minted Civil and Municipal Engineering Department at BENCO, part of the sprawling Banaras Hindu University. Fast forward to 1956, the official sanction arrives, solidifying the department’s place. The B.Sc Engineering (Civil & Municipal) Degree gains recognition from the Indian government in 1958. This era marks the true birth of CIVIL DEPT GATE, a symbolic entryway to a future shaped by concrete and steel. The department, later renamed the Department of Civil Engineering in 1975, expanded its reach. It now offers postgraduate courses in diverse specializations like Environmental, Geotechnical, Hydraulic, Structural, and Transportation Engineering.
