“Looking for spiritual guidance?” New Solid Rock Church Ministries might be just what you need. It began with a burning desire. Pastors Terrence and Taunya Melvin felt the call on May 17 1996. They wanted to establish Solid Rock Church Ministries.

The motto? “Building Strong Souls for Christ.” Later, they added “New” to the name. This distinguished their church from others in the area. The Lord confirmed their vision on June 30 1996. He showed them the future growth of New Solid Rock Church Ministries.

October 20 1996 marks the official establishment. The first Bible study occurred on November 7 1996. It was held in their home every Thursday night. Only three people attended. Pastor Terrence, Co-Pastor Taunya, and their daughter Theresa were there.

Just eight days later, they moved. The new location was 819 Upshur Street NW Washington D.C. This happened on November 15 1996. The Lord truly provided a way.

Five years later in May 2001 the congregation grew. They purchased the building at 819 Upshur Street. Then on June 1 2014 the church moved again. This time to Landover Hills.

While in Landover Hills MD New Solid Rock partnered with Cooper Rd Elementary School. They provided back-to-school supplies. They also gave meals to families for Thanksgiving. God blessed and expanded their territory. They prayed for a new home and God answered.

The church officially moved on August 25 2024. The new address is 1103 State Route 3 N in Gambrills MD. Even in a new location New Solid Rock remains a “Church on Fire” for Christ.

New Solid Rock prayed the prayer of Jabez. God enlarged their territory. They are still focused on winning souls for Christ. This is done through their outreach ministry.

Bishop Gregory I Rhinehart leads Solid Rock. At age four Gregory was hit by a car. The Lord had a plan for his life. He grew up in a Godly home in the Washington D.C. area. His parents Apostle Nehemiah and Wilhelminia Rhinehart taught him well.

In 2015 Bishop Gregory became the Senior Pastor. His father passed away. Bishop Gregory continues the good work. He loves the people of God. He shows it through commitment dedication and communication. His motto is “One Team One Fight We all Win”.

Bishop Gregory was married to Ivy M. Rhinehart for 38 years. She passed away in June 2022. They have five children: Renea Robin Brandi Brianna and Gregory II. They also have 11 grandchildren.
