Nacka kommun has also been a key partner, working with Karparna on many of these projects. The lake was so overgrown at one point that its surface area shrank from 5.9 hectares to 4.8. Imagine that! Almost a whole hectare lost to overgrowth. Thanks to the dredging in the late 1980s, Bagarsjön regained some of its lost expanse. Bagarsjön is more than just a pretty view. It’s a vital part of the local ecosystem. It’s a place for swimming, fishing, and even ice skating in the winter when Nacka kommun plows the ice. This lake is also a testament to the power of community action. The annual Badsjönfestival, organized by the Karparna, is a great example. It brings the community together, raises funds for the ongoing lake maintenance, and celebrates the hard work that has gone into preserving Bagarsjön for future generations.
