Envision white houses nestled amidst a lush garden. That is Langvlei.

Langvlei offers a tranquil escape within the Wilderness National Park. It is a place where nature’s beauty takes center stage. Our story begins in 1915. A butcher built Langvlei as his home and business. The property included a slaughterhouse, a shop, and sleeping spaces.

Fast forward to the 1980s and 90s. Langvlei transformed into a renowned concert venue known as The Blue Leopard. Later, it became a backpackers’ haven. It was a time of music and merriment. Today, Langvlei exudes charm and relaxation. The owners redesigned it with tender love and care. It captures the natural beauty of its surroundings.

Imagine wooden floors underfoot. Picture an open kitchen-living area perfect for gatherings. Langvlei comfortably sleeps six. There are two double beds and two single beds. The water supply comes from rainwater. A brackish borehole serves as a backup. The kitchen has a gas stove and cooking utensils.

Langvlei provides a nature getaway. Noticeably absent is a TV. Instead, there is a fireplace in the living room. Unbeatable peaceful views await you.

Langvlei is in the heart of South Africa’s Garden Route. Lakes, rivers, estuaries, and beaches characterize the landscape. Lush forests and lofty mountains form a stunning backdrop. It lies between Island Lake and Bo-Langvlei. Island Lake allows for recreational activities. Bo-Langvlei is a RAMSAR-protected bird sanctuary.

Bo-Langvlei has an enormous variety of spectacular bird species such as Crested Eagle and African Fish-eagle. You may see a Black-collared Barbet or an African Harrier-Hawk. Malachite Kingfishers and Knysna Turacos also call this place home. Look out for Giant Kingfishers, Pin-tailed Whydahs, and Southern Red Bishops. Pied Kingfishers, Amethyst Sunbirds, and Klaas’s Cuckoos can also be seen.

The Brownhooded Kingfisher walking trail starts nearby. The trail offers chances to spot special species like the Black-backed Puffback. It is not only very beautiful, but also offers an immediate opportunity for other special species such as Black-backed Puffback.

Langvlei is about 9 km from Wilderness village center. It is 2.5 km from Kleinkranz beach and 15 km from Sedgefield. The property has a great view over Bo-Langvlei. It is surrounded by indigenous forest. There are no direct neighbors.

Keep an eye out for national park animals visiting. Enjoy quick access to surrounding attractions. Bird watching opportunities are unlimited.

Langvlei offers a rustic chic home away from home. It is a place to reconnect with nature. It’s a reminder of simpler times. As you leave Langvlei, carry with you the tranquility. Remember the beauty of the Garden Route. Cherish the memories made in this unique sanctuary.
