Nestled in the heart of Freiberg, the Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg is more than just a garden. It’s a vibrant community space. It’s a testament to the power of shared green spaces. The Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg, located on Bernhard-Kellermann-Straße 20, is a haven of nature. It’s run by NABU Freiberg e.V.. Imagine a place where the buzz of city life fades. The gentle hum of nature takes over. This urban oasis offers an escape from the everyday. The Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg invites residents to connect with nature.

The Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg spans over 700 square meters. It features two designated areas for individual plots. These plots allow around 15 people to cultivate their green thumbs. A communal area houses raised beds, planters, and herb islands. These foster a sense of shared gardening. A pond system and insect hotel enhance biodiversity. Several composters promote sustainable practices. Similar to the Zechenhöhe community garden, the Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg boasts a unique biotope. It’s a combination of a pond and a dry habitat. The sandy hill was created using the excavated soil from the pond.

The members of the Nachbarschaftsgarten Freiberg communicate through a mailing list. There are no regular meeting times. Activities are announced in advance through surveys. These activities include work sessions and social gatherings like barbecues. Having a plot doesn’t require NABU membership. However, plot holders are encouraged to participate in gardening activities. They’re also welcome to support NABU Freiberg e.V. with their time and skills. A weekly rotating watering schedule maintains the communal areas. Work sessions are planned collectively in advance. Even those without individual plots can contribute to the garden.
