Parking pandemonium. That’s what UNSW’s Kensington campus felt like before the Botany Street Carpark upgrade. Imagine navigating a sea of cars, battling for a spot. Thankfully, those days are gone. The Botany Street Carpark, accessible via Gate 11 on Botany Street, has undergone a major transformation. This multi-storey carpark, once a source of frustration, now offers a much smoother parking experience. Originally, the outdoor area had only 15 short-term visitor spaces, limited to two hours. Now, there are 41 spaces with a four-hour limit, perfect for longer events like graduations. The upgrade also included improved lighting, signage, and refreshed surfaces with clearer line markings. No more squinting at faded lines or struggling to find your way in the dark. For those needing to load or drop off passengers, the number of loading zones has increased from 6 to 14. This makes life easier for retail tenants and visitors alike. One significant change is the removal of all ‘Permit Holder’ parking from the outdoor area. These spaces have been relocated to the multi-storey section of the Botany Street Carpark. While this might seem inconvenient for permit holders, it streamlines the parking process and frees up space for visitors. The Botany Street Carpark upgrade has truly transformed parking at UNSW Kensington. It’s now a more organized and user-friendly space for everyone.
