Did you know that the New Rising Star Church started with just 43 charter members? This unassuming building before you stands as a testament to their faith and perseverance. The New Rising Star Church wasn’t always this impressive structure. In 1976 Reverend I C Green founded the church. Its first service was held on December 5 1976. The initial congregation rented a building at 34 West 34th Street. Three new members joined at the very first service in that building.
The church grew steadily. In 1977 the decision was made to purchase the building. After years of hard work and unwavering faith the building was fully paid for in 1986. This shows the incredible commitment of its early members. Their dedication laid the foundation for the thriving congregation we see today. The New Rising Star Church wasn’t just about building a physical structure. It was about building a community a family of faith.
Over the years the New Rising Star Church expanded its ministries. They now boast over 1000 members and 50 ministries. This serves the needs of both members and the wider community. The church’s impact extends far beyond its four walls. They participate in various partnerships. These include programs for those in need and aid for African refugees. The New Rising Star Church even has international outreach projects.
The current building is a significant upgrade. In 2005 the church purchased a 43 acre campus at 2800 East 36th Street. A groundbreaking service marked the beginning of construction. This culminated in a victory march from the old building to the new campus on March 31 2007. The first service in the new state of the art facility was held April 1 2007 just before Easter. The incredible turnout reflected the community’s joy and support.
Today the New Rising Star Church continues its mission of faith hope and love. Under Pastor Lewis’s leadership the church remains vibrant and active. It’s a testament to the enduring power of faith and the strength of a community bound together by shared beliefs. The New Rising Star Church is a local church with a global reach.
