Elio Salvagno and his partners started by building beautiful mahogany motor boats. These boats became a symbol of Venice. Companies, tourism groups, even Venetian hotels, they all placed orders. The Serenella boats were used as ambulances, police launches, and luxurious “water limousines” for upscale hotels. The fastest way to navigate Venice and the islands was by taxi, and those taxis were often Serenella motor boats. The company’s influence even reached across the Atlantic. In 1977, Motonautico International in Newport Beach, California secured exclusive rights to import the boats to the United States. Today, these luxurious boats grace waters all over the world, a testament to the craftsmanship that began right here by the Ponte Serenella.
