Have you ever heard of a place called Zadní Kopanina? It’s a tiny village in Prague, tucked away in the heart of the countryside. If you’re looking for a place where time seems to stand still, you’ve found it. Zadní Kopanina was once a part of the Reporyje municipality, a village with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. The first documented mention of Zadní Kopanina actually predates Reporyje, however, as far back as 1350. In the 1420s, the village was seized by the people of Prague, who were rebelling against the Habsburg Emperors, who were the ruling family of Austria at the time. As a rebellion reward, it was given to a Praguian nobleman, but unfortunately, we don’t know his name. Zadní Kopanina continued to change hands through the centuries, and eventually, in 1669, it became part of the Tuchomëřice estate.
Zadní Kopanina remained a small, quiet village for centuries. Eventually it was incorporated into the city of Prague in 1974. Today, Zadní Kopanina is a charming, peaceful haven where you can experience a bit of the old world charm of Prague.
