A significant portion of the congregation departed in the wake of these events. For almost a decade, Igreja de Cristo struggled to regain its footing despite the dedicated efforts of its members.
In 2014, a turning point arrived for Igreja de Cristo. A conscious decision was made to unite in a single physical location. The goal was to foster stronger bonds and rebuild trust. Renewed vision and commitment to Christ’s mission began to flourish. Igreja de Cristo achieved financial independence. New members, including university students, joined the ranks. Some of these new members trained for full-time service within the church. Remarkably, after a 16-year hiatus, Igreja de Cristo sent its first mission team to another city.
Toward the end of last year, Igreja de Cristo reached another milestone. It was time to expand into different regions and officially appoint evangelists again. For the first time, elders were also appointed. This signified a powerful step forward for the church, showcasing its recovery and growth.
