What secrets lie within these walls? Right here, before us, stands the New Tampa Regional Library. This isn’t just any library. The New Tampa Regional Library opened its doors in 1997. It was built to meet the needs of the burgeoning New Tampa community. The library replaced the smaller Thonotosassa and Lutz branches. Did you know this library owes its existence to the dedication of a retired librarian named Jeri Zelinski? Jeri spearheaded the movement to gather community support and even convinced developers to donate land for the library. Sadly, she passed away in 2002. However, her legacy lives on in the Jeri Zelinski Community Room, a testament to her unwavering commitment to bringing the joy of reading to New Tampa. The New Tampa Regional Library is more than just a repository of books. It’s a testament to the power of community and the enduring legacy of one woman who dared to dream of a library for all.
