From this spot you can tune into the echoes of Santa Fe’s airwaves. This is the story of KSWV-AM. KSWV broadcasts on 810 AM. It also broadcasts on 99.9 FM. KSWV serves both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. It offers classic hits for listeners.

KSWV’s journey began in 1966. Back then, it was known as KAFE. Later, in 1987, the call sign changed to KMIK. In 1991, George Abrán Gonzales acquired KMIK. He was once the mayor of Santa Fe. Gonzales changed the call sign to KSWV. That call sign means “Que Suave.” He ran the station with his sons.

KSWV has a rich history. It has adapted to the changing times. In 2016, KSWV added an FM translator. This translator broadcasts at 99.9 MHz. It strengthened KSWV’s reach in Santa Fe. In 2017, ownership transitioned to Celina Gonzales. Her company is GCBendito 4 LLC. In 2019, KSWV shifted to a classic hits format. It now plays music from the 1960s through the 1980s.

KSWV must reduce power at night. This is to protect other stations. These stations are KGO in San Francisco and WGY in Schenectady, New York.

Today, KSWV continues to broadcast from Santa Fe. Its studios are located here. The address is 102 Taos St. You can call them at (505) 989-7441. KSWV is Santa Fe’s hometown news and classic hits station. It is a testament to local radio’s enduring appeal. KSWV remains a vital part of the community.
