“A stone marking time, you say?” asked a curious voice. Indeed, right here before you stands the 50 Lat Wydziału Geologii Stone. This unassuming monument marks not just a location, but a legacy. The 50 Lat Wydziału Geologii Stone commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Geology at the University of Warsaw. It was erected in 2002 by the Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Geology. The inscription on the stone, if you could brush away the moss and touch the cool surface, reads: “1952-2002. On the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Geology at the University of Warsaw. Association of Graduates of the Faculty of Geology”. Think about it. For half a century, this very spot has felt the footsteps of aspiring geologists, their minds brimming with questions about the earth beneath our feet. Perhaps some of them, now renowned scientists, stood right where you are now, gazing at this very stone! It reminds us that even amidst the hustle and bustle of a city, there are pockets dedicated to celebrating knowledge, dedication, and the enduring power of our planet’s story.
