Envision students practicing dance moves behind a large mirror. This happens almost every weekday at the TUJ Student Activity Studio. It is the newest addition to Temple University Japan’s facilities.

The TUJ Student Activity Studio officially opened in March. It quickly became a popular hub. Students use it for dancing, yoga and even table tennis. Starting in May undergraduate classes will be held here. Continuing education students will also enjoy yoga and dance classes in the studio.

Since Temple University Japan moved to Sangenjaya in 2019 it has worked to strengthen local ties. TUJ also moved the Human Resources office near the Student Activity Studio.

Temple University aims to enhance campus life. They opened their fourth and largest satellite facility near the Tokyo campus. This is in the Sangenjaya district. The new facility spans 630 square meters across three stories. It includes a dry science laboratory. There is a 40-student classroom and a fitness center. A studio classroom and collaboration area are available. Nearly 20 faculty offices are also housed here. It is expected to open during the fall 2024 semester.

TUJ continues to elevate international education in Japan. They have seen record enrollment growth. New academic programs have been introduced. These include Tourism Hospitality and Event Management and an esports certificate. The computer science program is expanding too. There are collaborative efforts with Japanese governments. A satellite location in Kyoto is opening in January 2025.

TUJ Dean Matthew Wilson is thrilled about the newest satellite facility. He says it will provide students with unparalleled resources. It will support academic excellence. The Owl Center is named after Temple University’s mascot. It will be a hub for international education. It will focus on liberal arts and STEM. This new facility is the fourth satellite location in the Sangenjaya Sakae-dori area. The Sancha Office opened in May 2024. It houses faculty offices telecubes and meeting spaces. The Sancha Office allowed TUJ to open more study areas in its main building.

For over four decades TUJ has built bridges between cultures. It has advanced the globalization of higher education. TUJ is the largest and longest-running foreign university branch campus in Japan. It hosts students from 70 countries. The Japan campus is the flagship Asian operation. Temple University is a leading public university in Pennsylvania. Undergraduate enrollment at TUJ reached a record high in spring 2024. There are over 2200 students. In addition to undergraduate programs they have other options. The Graduate College of Education is available. There is a Master in Management program. Students can study in the Law program. Non-degree programs are also offered. These include Continuing Education and the Academic English Program. TUJ serves a wide range of needs in the local community. TUJ was recognized by Japan’s Ministry of Education. It was officially designated as a Foreign University Branch in 2005.
