Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe first opened its doors in 1993. It quickly became the state’s only outlet mall. It stands as one of only three malls within Santa Fe itself.
Back in 1990, the vision for Santa Fe Factory Outlets came from Steve Craig. He was a developer with Ginsburg Craig and Associates based in California. At that time, two outlet malls were being developed simultaneously in New Mexico.
The first phase of Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe cost $8 million. In 1997, Chelsea GCA Realty partnered with Horizon Group Inc. Horizon Group also had the New Mexico Outlet Center. Some tenants then moved from the Budaghers shopping center to Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe. Later, Gulfstream Group, an Albuquerque company, bought the property and renamed it Santa Fe Premium Outlets. In 2007, Talisman Cos. LLC purchased the property for $9.3 million. New tenants arrived. The shopping center welcomed a Nike Factory Outlet store in 2009, but it closed in 2016.
The property owners faced a foreclosure lawsuit in 2017. In 2023, 8380 LLC acquired the Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe for $5.9 million. They plan to rebrand it as a marketplace.
Today, Fashion Outlets of Santa Fe is home to various stores. Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store and Eddie Bauer are here. You can also find Hanes, Levi’s, and Merrell. Beyond apparel, Eye Associates and Sunglass Hut serve your needs. And Sweet Santa Fe offers treats. Active Life provides athletic gear.
