Červený Újezd

In 2001, construction began on a dream. This dream materialized as the striking Červený Újezd Castle. Červený Újezd Castle isn’t ancient. It’s a modern marvel, built to evoke the spirit of a traditional Czech castle. Červený Újezd Castle was completed in just 18 months. The owner’s vision was to create a space that honored traditional craftsmanship while meeting modern needs. Within its walls, Červený Újezd Castle houses a fascinating museum. This museum focuses on rural Czech life. The castle grounds also feature a small open-air museum. Adjacent to the castle, you’ll find ArcadeHry. This gaming house and museum boasts over 170 functional arcade video games. Červený Újezd itself is a village with a rich history. First documented in 1318, it’s now home to about 1,700 people. The village is located approximately 11 km west of Prague. It sits on the border of the Prague Plateau and Křivoklát Highlands. Although a railway line passes through Červený Újezd, there’s no train station here. The name “Červený Újezd” translates to “Red Újezd”. “Újezd” is a common Czech place name, while “Červený” simply means “red”. From the modern castle to the historic village, Červený Újezd offers a unique blend of old and new.
