Zweenfurther Kirche has witnessed centuries of change, nestled in the heart of Borsdorf, Ortsteil Zweenfurth. Its story begins around 1200. The rounded arches and windows whisper tales of that era. Zweenfurther Kirche stands as a testament to architectural resilience. Originally a simple “Chorturmkirche”, it was a daughter church of Beucha from 1529 until 1957. The church bells hold their own stories. The largest bell boasts an inscription: “Ich ward gemacht, als der römische Ablaß in Holland war. Butendik hat die erzene Glocke gegossen 1452.” Translated, it proudly proclaims its creation in 1452, while the Roman indulgence was in Holland, cast by Butendik. Over time, Zweenfurther Kirche evolved. In 1717, a baroque tower was added. Later, in 1844, the nave was rebuilt in the classical style. That same year, a new organ, crafted by the renowned organ builder Beyer from Großzschocher, was installed. Zweenfurther Kirche isn’t just stones and mortar.
