Peering through the dusty windshield of our safari truck, we are about to embark on an unforgettable adventure on Zufari: Ride into Africa. This isn’t just another ride. Zufari is a thrilling off-road journey that combines a theme park adventure with a close encounter with African wildlife.
Zufari: Ride into Africa opened in March 2013. It quickly became a focal point of Chessington World of Adventures. Covering 22 acres, the area was carefully landscaped to resemble an African reserve.
Our journey on Zufari begins. We will encounter giraffes, white rhinos, and ostriches. We may even spot blesbok and nile lechwe. Remember adventurers must be a minimum of 1.0m tall to ride.
The ride is themed around A.C.R.E. This stands for African Conservation Research and Exploration. Chase Van-Driver is our A.C.R.E researcher providing commentary.
Listen carefully as we traverse the rugged terrain. Chase will share insights about the animals and their habitats within the Zufari reserve. This is a real safari experience, not just a simulated one.
Keep your eyes peeled. There is no guarantee of seeing animals as they are free reign in the Reserve. They may also choose to be in their indoor homes, so may not always be visible.
As we rumble along the path on Zufari, notice the unexpected dangers. The path ahead is blocked by a fallen tree. This forces us to take a detour through a dangerous cave.
Hold on tight as we plunge through a waterfall. You will get wet on this ride. Though there is a roof, passengers on the edges are liable to get wet.
Zufari has a height restriction of 100 cm. Each truck can hold a maximum of 30 adventurers with five in a row. It is not suitable for expectant mothers.
In 2013, Chessington even created a PR stunt. They temporarily banned guests wearing animal print clothing. This gained the ride more attention. The banning rule was not enforced.
Zufari closes an hour before sunset. Remember touching the animals is forbidden. We must respect their space and safety.
