The center’s design is based on traditional Chinese jade ware. Jade symbolizes peace and harmony. The circular layout reflects this symbolism. The open layout and central courtyard promote a modern and friendly government. This is according to the architects.
Many environmentally friendly features were integrated. Wind turbines and solar panels sit atop the office buildings. These additions show a commitment to sustainable design. They reduce the building’s environmental impact.
The Shanghai Zhangpu Civic Center is divided into two main areas. The north building houses government and citizen services. The east building hosts particular offices. A corridor connects both buildings. This corridor acts as a bridge creating interior plazas.
The north plaza features a glass roof. It serves as the main lobby for citizen services. The east plaza is an open-air patio. This provides a public space for people to enjoy.
The Shanghai Zhangpu Civic Center occupies a large area. The project covers 83.125 square meters. Construction was completed in 2011. The team that put this project together was made up of talented individuals. Kang Qiu and Xavier Pages Capella were part of the Architecture Project Team. Zoe Zhaohui Wan led the Landscape Project Team. SIAD Suzhou provided civil and structural engineering expertise. The Kunshan Municipal Investment Corp was the client.
