Zaschendorf is a part of the Schönfeld-Weißig district. It lies in the Schönfelder Hochland. This is between the Borsberg and the Triebenberg. Zaschendorf is statistically part of the Schönfeld/Schullwitz district.

Let’s take a trip back in time. In 1367, it was called Zaschlensdorff. By 1387, it was known as Zcazlauwendorf. Zaschendorf became part of Schönfeld in 1965. Since 1994, it has belonged to Schönfeld-Weißig.

Zaschendorf covers 1.46 square kilometers. In 2009, it had 150 residents. That’s a population density of 103 people per square kilometer.

Did you know that Zaschendorf is divided? It has an “Unterdorf” and an “Oberdorf”. The “Oberdorf” only came about in the second half of the 19th century.

In the early 20th century, Zaschendorf was a Waldhufendorf. Its fields stretched to the north and northwest. The farms were built in a long row along the valley floor. This type of settlement is often called a Reihendorf.
