Ever wondered how a tiny church could blossom into a diverse community hub? That’s the story of Yishun Christian Church Anglican. It started as a small congregation in 1977. St Andrew’s Cathedral sent Joseph Kanniah to St Peter’s Church Sembawang. This church was a small building used by British forces.
Revd Moses Tay pastored the congregation from 1978. He served until 1981 when he became the Diocesan Bishop. Revd Alexander Paatan then took over. He moved the church to a cinema and later to Yishun’s new housing estate.
Under Vicar Gerald Khoo, Yishun Christian Church Anglican grew. The new building was dedicated on May 29, 1987. English and Chinese congregations were established. The Tamil congregation began in 1994. Today, Yishun Christian Church Anglican serves a diverse community. It offers services in English, Mandarin, and Tamil.
Yishun Christian Church Anglican embraces personal brokenness. It encourages members to be open to God. This openness allows God’s Word to change lives. The church emphasizes deep formational relationships. These relationships help members grow spiritually.
Rev Daniel Teo is the current Vicar. He oversees all congregations and ministries. He enjoys teaching and preaching God’s Word. He hopes to see lives changed through Jesus.
Rev Israel Selvam desires to connect with people. He wants to bring God’s Word closer to them. He strives to please God in all ways.
Pastor Lim Wei Yi leads the Worship Ministry and Christian Education. He also works with young adults. He helps Christians understand their faith. He encourages them to make an impact every day.
Pastor Richard Busch heads the youth ministry. He also manages the church’s online presence. He is a passionate preacher focused on real-life application.
Virginia Hiponia supports church operations. She manages communications. She uses her expertise in business processes.
Pastor Roger Loh is a part-time pastoral staff member. He teaches children. He also supports the elderly and homebound members.
