He may have been the first white child born in the district.
Imagine Yarra Glen’s main street in 1888. The Grand Hotel a magnificent two-story stuccoed building stood proudly. Its four-story Italianate tower added later is a testament to the town’s prosperity during the boom period. The hotel’s stunning features including the masonry arcade cast-iron veranda and parapet make it an important example of architecture from that era.
