Did you ever hear a school called by a Bunurong word? Right here at Woodleigh School Minimbah Campus, “Minimbah” means “place of learning” in the Bunurong aboriginal language. Woodleigh School Minimbah Campus isn’t just a collection of buildings. It’s one of three campuses that make up the larger Woodleigh School. It’s steeped in history, stretching back to 1856. Imagine, in that year, it started as St. Paul’s School, operating from a hall on the grounds of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Frankston. This makes Woodleigh School Minimbah Campus part of the oldest co-educational school in Victoria. It wasn’t always here in Frankston South though. The move to this location, then called “Minimbah”, happened in 1970. The original Minimbah site was a smaller 3.5-hectare property off Seaview Road. Woodleigh School has grown significantly since then. Woodleigh School Minimbah Campus focuses on junior education, catering to grades K-6. The school prides itself on its adventurous spirit. It fosters a love for learning through a diverse range of experiences. One example is the “Activities Week” program, held twice a year. During this week, all staff and students participate in around fifty different activities. These activities are designed to challenge students, encouraging them to take on roles in decision-making, leadership, and responsibility. Woodleigh School Minimbah Campus also values respect for the environment. This core value is woven into the school’s history of environmental service, adventure education, and community service.
