Ever wondered what it feels like to stand at Singapore’s northernmost point? That is Woodlands Waterfront Park. Here we can literally see Johor Bahru from here.

Woodlands Waterfront Park is more than just a park. It’s a serene escape. It offers amazing views of the sea. Locals and visitors love it. The park spans 11 hectares. It provides a perfect location for many leisure activities.

Let’s take a walk through the park’s history. The Woodlands Waterfront Jetty first opened in 1966. The Republic of Singapore Navy used it. They commissioned new ships here. In 1981, the navy returned to Johor. The naval base and jetty were abandoned until 1997. Malaysia then transferred the properties back to Singapore. It was transformed into Woodlands Waterfront Park.

The 1.5-kilometer seaside promenade offers panoramic views of the Straits of Johor. Elevated viewing spots provide unhindered views of the coastline. You can also see the Straits of Johor. Jogging and cycling pathways make exercise more enjoyable.

Woodlands Waterfront Park connects to Admiralty Park. This connection is via the Northern Explorer Loop. You can follow the signs from Admiralty Park. Just hop and skip across the road.

Along the coastal track, keep an eye out. You might spot birds and wildlife. These animals hide among the dense trees. Look for the Striated Heron. Maybe you will see the Asian Brown Flycatcher. The Brown-throated Sunbird is another possibility. You might even see the Little Bronze Cuckoo. Keep your eyes peeled for the Clouded Monitor. The Long-tailed Macaque also lives here. It is also known as the Crab-eating Macaque. It forages on beaches and in mangrove forests.

During low tide, mud flats appear. Migratory shorebirds forage on the muddy terrain. You will surely see the Common Sandpiper. It bobs its tail while foraging. Also, look out for the Collared Kingfishers.

The jetty juts into the Straits of Johor. It provides a good vantage point. You can spot more water birds here. Watch for the Little Egret snagging a catch.

If you are feeling hungry, visit Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant. It is situated at the jetty. This halal restaurant offers BBQ seafood. It also has western cuisine.

You can fish at Woodlands Waterfront Park. The jetty and coastal path are both great spots. Remember to bring your own bicycle. There are no bike rentals here.

Kids will love the huge playground. It features high elements like bridges and towers. It is near the carpark and main entrance.

Pack a picnic and enjoy the green space. The flat area is perfect for families and friends. Just remember to clean up before you leave.

Getting here is easy. The nearest MRT station is Woodlands North. Take Exit 1. You can also take bus number 856. If you drive, parking is available. It is free from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM daily. After that, it costs $0.60 per 30 minutes.

Sunset is one of the best times to visit. The sun casts an orange light. It makes the jetty and visitors glow. Breathe in the refreshing sea breeze. Woodlands Waterfront Park offers a tranquil escape. It is a hidden gem in Singapore. Enjoy the beauty of this coastal park.
