Ever wondered what secrets lie within the walls of Woodlands Ring Secondary School? Here at 10 Woodlands Ring Road, stands Woodlands Ring Secondary School. It first opened its doors in 1998, welcoming 395 Secondary One students and 15 teachers. Woodlands Ring Secondary School isn’t just any school. It has played a unique role in the community, temporarily housing several other schools during a period of growth in Woodlands. These included Woodlands Ring Primary School, Evergreen Primary School, Sembawang Secondary School, and Orchid Park Secondary School. Woodlands Ring Secondary School also has a specialized focus. In 2009, it gained recognition as a niche school in robotics. This culminated in the 2015 Applied Learning Programme, known as ‘The Robotics Education and Enterprise’ (TREE). This programme encourages students to explore robotics through hands-on learning. In 2017, the school further expanded its robotics offerings. They introduced the Ministry of Education (MOE)-Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Applied Subject – Mobile Robotics – for Secondary Three Normal (Technical) students. In 2019, they launched Electronics, an MOE-Applied Subject for Secondary Three Express students. Beyond robotics, Woodlands Ring Secondary School believes in developing well-rounded individuals. Their motto, “Work, Rise, Serve,” reflects their dedication to community involvement. This is further emphasized by their Learning for Life Programme, ‘Student Leadership Development through Involvement in the Community,’ which was introduced in 2016. Woodlands Ring Secondary School’s emblem, forming the initials “WRSS,” symbolizes growth and the pursuit of knowledge. The colors of the emblem, red, green, and gold, represent dynamism, growth, and hope respectively. As Woodlands Ring Secondary School continues its journey, it stands as a testament to its commitment to nurturing students to be worthy, resilient, and selfless members of society.
