Is this where a young Keith Richards honed his musical talents? We are standing in front of Wilmington Academy, a secondary school steeped in history, though it hasn’t always been known by this name. Before becoming Wilmington Academy in 2010, this site housed the Wilmington Enterprise College and before that, Wilmington High School. And if those walls could talk, they’d tell tales of a young man named Keith Richards, the legendary guitarist of the Rolling Stones, who once walked these halls. Yes, Wilmington Academy can boast of having a rock and roll legend amongst its alumni. Founded in 2010, Wilmington Academy is a mixed secondary school, embracing students from 11 to 19 years old. This academy isn’t just about traditional education. In 2017, it achieved a prestigious title, becoming an IB World School. Think of it as a passport to a global education. They offer the IB Careers Programme, a unique blend of rigorous academics and vocational training, designed to equip students for success in our ever-changing world.
