Willow Bend Church, formerly known as Liberty Baptist Church, has a rich past dating back to 1850. Imagine Collin County, merely four years old, when a small group of eleven devout Christians established this sacred ground. They first congregated at Brother Henry Cook’s log cabin on White Rock Creek. Their initial meeting place, known as “Lonesome House,” marked the beginning of a faith that would endure for generations. Can you picture Elder Eli Witt, the church’s first pastor, traversing the untamed prairie on horseback to shepherd his flock? He was a true pioneer, founding several churches in North Texas during those early years. In 1886, a one-acre plot of land, where the church stands today, was purchased for a grand sum of ten dollars. This land witnessed the evolution of Willow Bend Church from a humble log cabin to a white frame sanctuary in 1885.
