Standing here in front of the Wildwood Baptist Church, you might not realize what a journey this place has been. It all began in 1970, when people in this community felt the need for a proper house of worship. The first service took place in Wildwood’s Activities Building, a place they called The Lodge. In just one year, Wildwood Baptist Church was officially established, and a building program was launched. It was a time of excitement, as plans were made for a magnificent sanctuary.
The initial forty-four members were enthusiastic about what they were building. In 1971, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wildwood Baptist Church building took place. This was a significant event, as it showed the dedication of the community to their shared faith. Every Sunday, more people would join, and the community grew stronger. The church became a place where people could come together and find solace and strength in the Lord. A great day for the church came in 2008. The groundbreaking for a new Family Life Center. By God’s grace, this project was completed without any debt and is now known as the Mitchell Family Life Center, a tribute to Bro. Don and Wanda Mitchell who have served the Lord faithfully for many years. Wildwood has also been blessed with great men and women of God leading their church family, offering unwavering support to their community.
Today, Wildwood Baptist Church stands as a beacon of faith and a testament to the unwavering spirit of its people. It’s a place where people from all walks of life can gather and feel a sense of belonging, a comforting haven amidst the ever-changing world.
