Take a look at Wieboldt Hall. Located on Northwestern University’s Streeterville campus, it was built in 1926 and now houses the Schools of Professional and Continuing Studies. The building originally opened as Northwestern University’s School of Commerce. Originally, Wieboldt Hall housed the School of Commerce but was later converted to classrooms and administrative offices. It is interesting to note that the sixth, seventh, and eighth floors of the building have undergone a major renovation. You can see evidence of that renovation in the modern classroom technology and electrical systems that were upgraded to support the School of Continuing Studies’ growth, particularly its distance learning initiative. If you were to look closely, you might even spot some of the updated MEP, fire protection, fire alarm, and tele-data communication systems brought up to code on the sixth and eighth floors. So next time you are in the neighborhood, be sure to check out Wieboldt Hall, a testament to Northwestern University’s commitment to education and innovation.
