“Homely” That’s how one student described Whitaker Hall. A warm inviting place. Right here before us stands Whitaker Hall a small hall of residence. It’s home to 169 students. This makes it the smallest first-year hall at the University of Auckland.

Whitaker Hall is a unique place. It’s the only hall offering twin-share rooms. Imagine sharing a room with a friend. Imagine the late-night chats. The shared secrets. The comforting feeling of a close-knit community. The building boasts a mix of single rooms twin-share rooms and even some deluxe twin-share rooms.

The cost varies depending on the room type. Single rooms cost $368 per week. Twin-share rooms are more affordable at $309 a week. The deluxe twin-share rooms cost $355 weekly. Fully catered meals are included. Breakfast lunch and dinner are served Monday to Friday. Brunch and dinner are served on weekends. Think of it as a worry-free student experience.

The hall’s location is excellent. It’s a short 5-10 minute walk from the city campus. Convenient for lectures and social gatherings. One student mentioned construction nearby. However nighttime visits showed minimal disruption.

Whitaker Hall’s brick exterior is attractive. The warm brown and red tones give it a cozy feel. It’s almost like a charming cabin. A place to relax share stories and build friendships. A student blogger Cecilia described it as having a “camp cabin vibe”. The warm yellow glow at sunset perfectly complements this cozy atmosphere.
