It’s a beautiful school, isn’t it? It’s one of the best in the state, and we are standing right in front of its imposing presence. This is Westlake High School, a true gem of Austin, Texas. Built in 1971, it serves the bustling communities of West Lake Hills and Rollingwood, as well as parts of Southwest Austin. It’s often lauded for its impressive academic programs, such as its Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as its celebrated Performing Arts Department and its world-class athletic program. Westlake is a powerhouse in the sports world, having won numerous state championships, particularly in football, where they have dominated in recent years. The Chaparrals, as they are named, boast a long list of prominent alumni, including NFL quarterbacks Drew Brees and Nick Foles. Did you know that Westlake, even in its youth, made its mark on the state stage? In 1979 and 1982, the school won state titles in Marching Band Sweepstakes. Westlake High School, more than just bricks and mortar, is a place where ambitious dreams are nurtured, talents are honed, and champions are born.
