Here, in front of you, stands Theatre 62, also known as the West Wickham Theatre Centre. It isn’t the biggest theatre you’ve ever seen, but its heart beats with passion and a rich history. It’s been a haven for thespians and a place where dreams take flight for over 60 years. It all started in 1962 with a unique merger – the West Wickham Dramatic Society and the Actories (an offshoot of the local Conservative party) joined forces. The early days were understandably chaotic, with two individuals holding the position of Chairman. Luckily, order was soon restored, and the theatre began its journey towards becoming a beacon of community theatre. Today, Theatre 62 is a vibrant hub of creativity, showcasing five different productions every year, ranging from dramas and comedies to thrilling mysteries. They’ve even got a rehearsal room, a licensed bar, and a treasure chest of costumes, scenery, props, sound, and lighting equipment. This is a truly unique and enriching space, where you can find something for everyone. Whether it’s acting on stage, working behind the scenes, or sharing a drink in the bar, Theatre 62 offers endless opportunities to get involved.
