In 1947 a small group of Christians established West Main Church of Christ. They gathered in Brother Roberts’ home. This humble beginning marked the start of a vibrant congregation. The church’s story is one of growth and resilience. West Main Church of Christ faced numerous challenges. Yet its members persevered. Their faith remained strong. They moved from a small home to a building seating 175. Later they expanded again. This time to accommodate 325 people. The church continued to grow. They purchased land on North Hampton Road. A new building was constructed. It opened in February 1978. West Main Church of Christ continued to thrive under the leadership of Brother German McGilbra. Sadly he passed away in 1972. Reginald B Dulin then became minister. The congregation’s growth continued. In 2000 Brother Dulin stepped down. Sammie L Berry became minister. He remains so today. The church also ordained its first elders in 2003. They were Sammie L Berry and Gary McMillian. More elders and deacons joined over the years. West Main Church of Christ is more than just a building. It’s a community. It’s a testament to faith. It’s a place where people gather. They come to worship and support each other. They serve their community. West Main Church of Christ continues its mission. This mission is to spread the word of God. It does this through service and outreach. The church reflects the enduring spirit of its founders. Their dedication continues. Their faith remains strong. West Main Church of Christ stands as a beacon. It stands for hope and faith. It’s a place of spiritual growth and fellowship.
