Waverley Christian College started in 1978 as Parkmore Full Gospel College. The Parkmore Full Gospel Church founded it. In 1983, the church and school joined Waverley Christian Fellowship. This fellowship is now CityLife Church. The college then moved to its current Wantirna South location in 1989.
Waverley Christian College seeks to provide a high-quality Christian education. Academic standards, facilities, and Christian values are all important. They ensure students experience academic success and spiritual growth. The college also focuses on social, emotional, and physical well-being.
The college has a strong pastoral care program for all students. Dedicated and caring staff provide an excellent learning environment. Waverley Christian College is known for its VCE results. Most students gain entry to their chosen university programs. The college also offers alternative pathways. These include VCE VM and VET options.
The curriculum teaches from a Biblical perspective. Christian values underpin all aspects of the college program. Staff members are committed to the college’s Christian ethos. They encourage students to develop their faith. Service to the community, respect, and compassion are also key values.

The college has grown steadily since its founding. Today, around 1300 students attend the Wantirna South campus. This includes students from kindergarten to secondary school.
In 2012, Waverley Christian College opened a new campus in Narre Warren South. It started with 150 students from Prep to Year 7. Enrollment has grown to over 970 students since then. The secondary school extended to Year 12 in 2019.
The college operates a four-house system. Each house honors a Christian who promoted the Bible. The houses promote healthy competition and team spirit. They also develop student leadership. Points are awarded for academic, sporting, and spiritual achievements. The four houses are Wycliffe, Tyndale, Finney, and Spurgeon.
The major sports are offered at Waverley Christian College. These include swimming, athletics, and cross-country. There are also many team and ball sports. Music is part of both the primary and secondary curriculum. Students can take private lessons in piano, brass, woodwind, strings, and percussion. Other extracurriculars include dance, orchestra, choir, and school productions. Clubs include Chess, Maths, Badminton, Drama, Book, Gym, Fitness, and Table Tennis.
The Wantirna South campus is located beside the Eastlink Freeway. It was established in 1989. The Narre Warren South campus sits on 20 acres of open space. It commenced operation in 2012.
