The air smells salty. A gentle breeze whispers secrets from Western Port. Welcome to Warringine Park.

Warringine Park isn’t just a park. It’s a hidden gem on the Mornington Peninsula a sanctuary declared a conservation park in 1994. It’s a place where the land and sea meet. The Mornington Peninsula Shire took over management in 2006. The park is divided into three distinct sections. There’s the Coastal Wetland a Creekland and a Woodland. Each area offers its own unique charm.

Imagine walking the 3.6 km boardwalk. It winds through coastal wetlands part of the internationally significant Western Port Ramsar site. You’ll pass salt marshes so special they are classified by the National Trust. Look closely. You might spot geological formations and flora communities listed on the Register of the National Estate.

Birdwatchers rejoice Warringine Park is a haven for over 110 bird species. Keep an eye out for the endangered Great Egret and Lewin’s Rail. The threatened Swamp Skink and Southern Brown Bandicoot also call this place home. The vegetation changes constantly. One moment you’re surrounded by grassland the next by mangroves. It’s a photographer’s dream.

This isn’t just a pretty walk. It’s a journey through time. At Jacks Beach near the end of the trail you’ll find the remains of an old tanning pit. The Jack brothers used it to soak their fishing nets in the early 1900s. This area is a historical site now part of the park’s story.

Dogs aren’t allowed in Warringine Park. The salt marshes are too delicate. Remember to respect this precious ecosystem. This is a place to walk quietly observe nature and appreciate its beauty. It’s more than just a walk it’s an experience. A journey that connects you with the land and the sea. A memory you’ll want to hold onto long after you leave Warringine Park.
