Established in 1907 Villiers High School has a rich history. Initially known as Southall County School it welcomed its first 54 pupils. Mr Sam Pollitt the first headmaster was known for his stern demeanor. One former pupil even compared meeting Mr Pollitt to facing the trenches of World War I. The school’s name changed to Southall Grammar in 1945. Later in 1963 it merged with Southall College of Technology becoming Southall Grammar Technical School. Finally in 1974 it adopted its current name Villiers High School. The school’s sixth form opened in 2009. Villiers High School boasts impressive achievements. It has consistently received positive Ofsted ratings. In 2007 it earned a Good rating with Outstanding features. Later in 2015 it was rated Good in all areas. The Ofsted reports highlight the school as a harmonious community. The reports also praise the very strong leadership of the senior leadership team. Villiers High School has also nurtured notable individuals. Assistant head teacher David Onllwyn Jones received an MBE in 2008 for his contributions to education. Many notable alumni have achieved great things. These include cricketer Imran Qayyum and Professor John Woodhouse a renowned geophysicist. Others such as actor Barry Foster and economist Lionel Robbins Baron Robbins of Clare Market also attended. Villiers High School in Boyd Avenue Southall remains a cornerstone of the community.
