Imagine Walther Weber, a Bremerhaven merchant, envisioning a home. It needed to reflect his success and family values. This is Villa Weber. A testament to a bygone era, standing proudly on Wurster Straße.

Completed in 1927, Villa Weber emerged from the drawing boards of Ernst Maassen and Robert Witte. The construction firm H.F. Kistner brought their vision to life. It was built for Walther Weber and his wife Johanna Weber, born Kistner. This connection suggests a family bond with the builders themselves.

Note the architecture of Villa Weber. It is a two-story plastered house. A hipped roof shelters it, adorned with bat dormers. These elements represent a conservative style popular at the time.

But the Villa Weber’s story doesn’t end with its construction. World War II significantly impacted Bremerhaven. After 1945, Bremen fell within the American occupation zone. The U.S. military government seized Villa Weber. From then until 1952, it served as “Club 99”. It was a social hub for the occupying forces.

Can you imagine the sounds of jazz and American accents echoing within these walls? This house, intended as a family residence, temporarily transformed into a place of entertainment for soldiers far from home.

Later, Villa Weber was returned to the Weber family. They renovated it. As of 2021, it remains the Weber family residence. It is a testament to their resilience.

Villa Weber is more than just a beautiful building. It is a designated historic landmark. Bremerhaven recognized its cultural significance by placing it under protection in 2000. This ensures that its history will be preserved for future generations.

Take a closer look at Villa Weber. Consider the lives lived within these walls. From a family home to a military club and back again. Its walls could tell countless stories. Villa Weber symbolizes Bremerhaven’s history. It connects family, war, and resilience.
