A captivating synthesis of cultures. That’s what Villa Moutiers truly is. Standing before this remarkable estate you feel its history. It’s not just a house; it’s a testament to a vision. This extraordinary place fosters connections between people.

The Bois des Moutiers is more than a beautiful garden. It’s a treasure filled with universal values. The site’s beauty is undeniable. The architecture and gardens impress every visitor. Villa Moutiers transcends mere aesthetics. It’s a place where minds are awakened. The senses are constantly stimulated. This was Mary Mallet’s profound legacy before her passing in 2004.

The talents of Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll are woven into this place. Four generations poured their passion into this masterpiece. Villa Moutiers is now internationally recognized. It stands out for its architectural botanical and artistic qualities. The house and gardens are Arts & Crafts style. They are listed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. Imagine the vivid blooms throughout the year. From March to April magnolias rhododendrons azaleas and camellias burst forth. In May vibrant rhododendrons and azaleas paint the landscape. Summer brings the beauty of Japanese irises roses and more. Autumn paints the leaves in fiery hues. The gardens remain stunning even in November.

The estate sits overlooking the sea. This location contributes to Villa Moutiers’ unique charm. The careful blend of native and exotic plants is astounding. The winding paths lead through dense woodlands. Hidden within are rhododendrons azaleas hydrangeas and magnolias. This stunning array of plants creates a truly enchanting atmosphere.

Sadly major restoration work began in 2019. The gardens closed for a time. We hope for a swift reopening.
