Founded in 1938 La Prevoyance Artisanal began its journey. It was a time of significant social change in France. The founders were artisans. They were presidents of the Chamber of Trades and presidents of corporations. Their vision was inspired by the social movements of the 1930s. These movements would eventually lead to the creation of France’s Social Security system in 1945. La Prevoyance Artisanal played a crucial role. It provided crucial support to its members. This support was especially important during times of illness. It was classified as a mutual aid fund.

World War II briefly interrupted the organization’s work. However La Prevoyance Artisanal resumed operations in 1948. It continued to provide aid to its members facing financial hardship due to illness. This was its primary objective. The organization played a vital role. It offered a safety net for artisans and their families during challenging times. This support was invaluable in a time before universal healthcare.

In 1969 La Prevoyance Artisanal was officially recognized. It was authorized to administer the compulsory health insurance plan. This plan was for the self-employed individuals also known as TNS. This marked a significant turning point. La Prevoyance Artisanal expanded its services. It served artisans and merchants in Alsace. It became one of the recognized organizations in Alsace. It continued this function until February 1 2020. Its name changed to AGIR Mutuelles Alsace.

Throughout its existence La Prevoyance Artisanal expanded its offerings. It offered supplemental health insurance. It extended its services beyond artisans and merchants. It served professionals from other sectors including the liberal professions and salaried employees. To reflect this growth its name was changed in the early 1990s. It became La Prevoyance Artisanale Commerciale et Salariale. Eventually the name was shortened to simply La Prevoyance. This shorter name made it easier for people to recognize and remember. This name reflects its enduring legacy. It stands as a testament to its commitment to its members and the broader community. The history of La Prevoyance is an inspiring tale. It’s a tale of resilience social responsibility and a unwavering commitment to supporting individuals in times of need.
