Is this where the renowned Belgian painter, Théo van Rysselberghe, once lived? Right before us lies Villa Aublet, a charming street tucked away in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. It was here, in this peaceful enclave, that van Rysselberghe, a close friend of the writer André Gide, established his home and studio in 1901. He resided in Villa Aublet for about 15 years, his three-story house with a spacious atelier becoming his creative sanctuary. Sadly, this piece of art history was lost to time when the house was demolished in 1976. But Villa Aublet lives on, a silent testament to the ebb and flow of time and the enduring spirit of art in the heart of Paris.
