Tranquility found. That’s what Vihara Dharma Suci offers. Located in Pantai Indah Kapuk Jakarta Utara this vibrant Buddhist temple is more than just a place of worship. It’s a journey.
Vihara Dharma Suci opened officially in December 2012. Though its doors had been open since 2010. Over a thousand people gathered for the grand opening. The event began on a stage outside. It continued inside the stunning fourth-floor bhaktisala. Ven Huei Guang a senior monk from Taiwan’s International Bodhisattva Sangha presided.
A unique feature of the Vihara Dharma Suci is its stunning bhaktisala. This meditation hall is more than just a beautiful space. It is a carefully designed environment for reflection. The smooth polished marble floor encourages mindfulness. The acoustics amplify sounds reminding us of the impact of our words and actions. The circular geometry above the Buddharupang symbolizes the boundless nature of the Buddha. The square geometry around the statues of Ananda and Maha Kasyapa represents the duality of worldly imperfection and spiritual perfection. These elements are beautifully combined. They create a space designed to inspire contemplation.
Another awe-inspiring element is the massive Dharma Wheel. This two-ton structure of glass and steel descends from the ceiling. It holds 1080 sandalwood prayer beads. Imagine the sight and sound as people hold the beads and chant Amitofo.
The Vihara Dharma Suci is more than just architecture. It’s a living community. It hosts various events including Dharma talks retreats and even Buddhist music festivals. Renowned speakers from Indonesia and abroad have graced its stages. Bhikkhu Pannyavaro Bhikkhu Uttamo and Andrie Wongso are just a few. This Mahayana Vihara welcomes people of all Buddhist traditions.
Vihara Dharma Suci’s founder Bhiksuni Zong Kai had a clear vision. She wanted to create a space of peace and tranquility. A place to leave your worries and take home joy. This is reflected in the sign above the exit which says Please take home the joy of Dharma. The Vihara is connected to the Dharma Suci School. Education is a key part of this institution’s mission. The school aims to nurture goodness through education. This vision extends to the International Nursery and Primary School. It opened within the Vihara complex in 2010.
Vihara Dharma Suci isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to faith community and the pursuit of inner peace. It’s a place where the past present and future intertwine.
