From its humble beginnings in Dockton on Maury Island in 1927 the Vashon Island Community Church stands as a testament to faith and community. Originally known as Dockton Community Church this congregation was unique. Its identity wasn’t tied to a specific denomination. Instead it was defined by the shared faith of its members in Jesus Christ. The church’s denominational affiliation often depended on who served as pastor.

In November 1979 Pastor Gene Peretti brought the church into affiliation with the Assemblies of God. Ten years later under Pastor Frank Davis the church moved to its present location.
