Remember Mrs. Lula Tyree and Mrs. Annie Quillen? In the summer of 1938, Mrs. Tyree shared her God-given vision with Mrs. Quillen. That vision sparked the beginning of Valley View Christian Church.

Valley View Christian Church is a non-denominational church. It is located in Far North Dallas near Carrollton, Addison, and Farmers Branch. Valley View loves Dallas and leads others to follow Jesus together.

It all began with a Sunday School. Five adults and twelve children attended the first meeting. The location was across the street from Mrs. Quillen’s house. It was under a large oak tree on Maurice and Kathryn Roberts’ property. This is where Valley View Christian Church stands today.

Bro Raleigh Cardwell delivered the first sermon in “Roberts woods”. Many traveling pastors shared messages during those early days of Valley View Christian Church.

In 1940, Rev Knipp began serving Valley View. At Mrs. Tyree’s urging, the church organized as a Baptist Congregation. It included Baptists, Lutherans, Nazarenes, and Methodists. Representatives from local Baptist churches approved the new congregation.

Valley View built a small white building measuring 20 by 40 feet. Later, they added a basement. Rev Moody served Valley View. He later became a well-known Professor of Theology.

The church was committed to outreach. This included door-to-door visits, bus ministry, and revival services. By 1944, Valley View had grown to over 200 people.

Rev Case ministered from 1949 to 1955. During this time, the church reached out to Waverly Hills patients. They even started a recreation program. The church grew so much that adult groups moved to rented houses. During that time, the brick building, now part of the children’s area, was built.

In July 1967, Valley View Christian Church moved into a new Sanctuary. Today, this building houses the church offices, chapel, and attic.

In early 1979, the Family Life Building was built. It was the first recreation facility of its kind in the area. In 1984, Valley View broke ground on its existing worship center. The first service was held on December 15, 1985.

Valley View’s Women’s Ministry launched in 1986. It included Bible study, crafts, and fellowship. In 1990, the “Jubilee” Offering Celebration took place. The congregation invested $40,000 to reduce the building debt. Awana Ministry launched in August 1994.

Pastor Kevin Hamm led Valley View from 1997 to 2006. Under his leadership, the church grew to nearly 2,400 people. In 1999, the church purchased the property where the Dare to Care House is today.

In 2008, Project Hope Ministry began. It provides household items, furniture, and healthcare equipment to the community. The Homeless Ministry started in 2009. In 2013, Valley View became a food distribution site through the Dare to Care Food Bank.

In November 2021, Valley View Christian Church called John C. Major as Senior Pastor. In August 2023, the Fellowship Hall was rechristened the “Larry and Sharlett Peercy Hall”. This recognized their faithful service.

Valley View holds worship services every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. They gather for praise, worship, weekly communion, and a Bible-based sermon. Services last approximately one hour. All believers are welcome to participate in communion. The elements are available upon entering the Worship Center.

Valley View Christian Church continues to thrive. It welcomes everyone to join its community. It invites you to experience its love for Dallas and its dedication to following Jesus.
