In 1992 a dream took root. It began in the home of Pastor Kevin and Lisa Evans in Lewisville Texas. Valley Creek Church of Christ was born. A small gathering with a big heart to see Jesus move in the city.
For nineteen years Valley Creek grew. It met in five different locations. It proved big things often start small. Then in 2010 a new chapter unfolded. Pastor Kevin moved to China as a missionary. Pastor John Stickl became the new lead pastor.
A new season dawned for Valley Creek Church of Christ. The church began to “follow the Cloud”. It believed God’s guidance was always better than the past. The vision was to help people take the next step in their journey with Jesus. They listened to God’s voice responding to His invitations.
Valley Creek became a worshipping church. It focused on experiencing and encountering God. The church believed God’s presence was the greatest change agent. This focus led to rapid growth. Valley Creek became one of the fastest-growing churches in the country.
Developing leaders became a key part of the church’s culture. Ninety-five percent of the staff was raised up within Valley Creek. The church believed everyone was created to be a kingdom leader. This belief fueled their growth and expansion.
Valley Creek launched its first Missional Move A1:8. A Missional Move meant taking a next step so others could take theirs. A new Flower Mound campus opened. A Denton campus launched. A church-planting school started in India.
The church’s current icon solidified its identity as a Jesus-focused Spirit-filled and Life-giving church. Valley Creek launched more campuses and initiatives. It became a multi-campus church reaching the city and beyond. Even a global pandemic did not stop its expansion.
Valley Creek launched an online campus. It used technology to spread the Gospel. The church expanded from serving a city to serving the world. Hope carriers spread across the globe. The church continued to grow its mission. Valley Creek Church of Christ became a movement of hope. It aimed to raise up hope carriers who would change their world.
