Architect Holger Jensen designed this modern structure. The building’s clean lines are striking. It’s a far cry from older churches in the area. Værølse Kirke opened its doors in 1971. It wasn’t quite finished though. Substantial changes followed. A team from Fogh & Følner architects oversaw renovations. These changes led to a rededication in 1984. This wasn’t the final chapter in Værølse Kirke’s name. In 1992 it shed the ‘Lille’ prefix. It became simply Værølse Kirke the church we stand before today. The church boasts a striking ceramic relief behind the altar. This artwork is the work of Tue Poulsen. It speaks to the church’s blend of modern design and artistic expression. The free-standing bell tower stands tall. It has six white painted crosses on its southern side. Værølse Kirke’s history reflects the changing face of the area.
