Didn’t Niels J. Holm draw inspiration from his church designs when he created Værløse Bibliotek in 1979? Værløse Bibliotek stands as a modern beacon of knowledge. It serves the community as a folkebibliotek. This library isn’t just a repository of books. It’s a vibrant hub in Furesø Kommune.

Værløse Bibliotek is located centrally in Bymidten. Its construction necessitated demolishing Mourvilles Minde. This was one of the last old patrician villas in town.

The library’s design is striking. It features three red-brick square rooms. These rooms have steeply sloping roofs. A low entrance hall connects them. Large, almost church-like windows provide ample natural light. Both the adult and children’s sections benefit from this design.

Værløse Bibliotek acts as the main library. It oversees Hareskov Bibliotek and Farum Bibliotek. Together, they form the Furesø Bibliotekerne. An older library building connects to the new one via a low passage. This older section has served various purposes. It has been a cultural center and a youth center.

Adjacent to Værløse Bibliotek is Galaksen. This is the town’s cultural center. The library plays a vital role in the community. It is a place for learning and gathering. Værløse, once known as Lille Værløse, has a rich history. It was first mentioned in 1248 as Witherløse. By 2024, Værløse had grown to 13,248 residents.

The library is more than books. It’s a testament to Værløse’s growth. It is a commitment to culture. Its architecture invites exploration. It is a space where stories come alive. The Værløse Bibliotek stands as a proud landmark. It enriches the lives of Furesø’s residents every day.
