Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a banker in a skyscraper that looks like it’s shooting for the clouds? Well, this is US Bancorp Center, the 15th tallest building in Minneapolis, and it houses the headquarters of US Bancorp. The building, which was completed in 2000, is a sight to behold. It was specifically designed to connect the Minneapolis Skyway System, which is the world’s largest system of enclosed, second-level bridges linking together buildings. That’s why the US Bancorp Center has a two-story glass atrium opening onto Nicollet Mall, providing a direct connection to the skyway system. This means that people can walk on a walkway above the street level, going from one place to another without being exposed to the elements. This is a big deal for a city like Minneapolis that gets to experience its fair share of weather, including freezing temperatures in winter, along with snow and ice.
